LightWay Ministries is a volunteer-led church made up of people who love Jesus and have a heart for serving others. Our leadership includes our lead pastor, ministry directors that oversea our youth, kids, hospitality, worship/production and safety, and a church board who work together to support the mission and vision of LightWay.
We are also grateful for our partnership with SendNC, which provides wisdom, guidance, support, and accountability as we continue to grow as a church.
We believe the church is more than a building—it’s a family of believers growing together, serving together, and helping others walk in the light of Christ. We’re thankful for every person who faithfully gives their time and gifts to what God is doing at LightWay!
Todd Massey is the Lead Pastor of LightWay Ministries in Smithfield, North Carolina. Alongside his wife, April, and their two children, Hope and Ethan, Todd's story is one of brokenness, redemption, and the life-changing grace of Jesus. Todd is a Marine veteran who carried the weight of PTSD and survivor’s guilt, searching for healing in all the wrong places, including drugs and alcohol. April, a military spouse, walked through seasons of codependency, searching for identity and purpose in the things the world offered.
Both discovered that what they were searching for could only truly be found in Jesus. As they surrendered their lives to Him, He brought healing, freedom, and restoration, rebuilding their marriage on a foundation of grace and new life. Their story is a reminder that no matter where we've been or what we've walked through, Jesus meets us in our brokenness and offers us hope for a new beginning.
Todd served four years in the United States Marine Corps from 2006 to 2010, completing two tours of duty in Iraq. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from Liberty University and serves on the Board of Directors for Street Reach, a local nonprofit serving individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Johnston County. Alongside his ministry, he works full-time in the quality department at Grifols Pharmaceuticals in Clayton, North Carolina.
Married since 2008, Todd and April are grateful for the opportunity to raise their family, serve their community, and share the hope they've found in Christ. As Lead Pastor, Todd has a heart for helping people know Jesus, grow in faith, and discover that they don't have to walk through life alone.
